Wondering why Scottie Reynolds and Corey Fischer were benched? Well that “minor teaching point” has been discovered. Rumors are circulating around the media that Reynolds and Fischer were involved in an altercation the night before their first game in the NCAA Tournament – because Fischer has been sleeping with Reynold’s girlfriend and she is allegedly pregnant.

College Football Already Has Stories

by Corianne Egan

While college football is arguably the most controversial sport in the nation, the stories usually come after the season – normally after selections and snubs from the NCAA. This year, however, there are plenty of interesting stories you will want to start following from day one. With the season starting tomorrow, here are the stories that deserve your attention.

0– Michigan players went public with reports that their own practices violated NCAA regulations. What that said, do you think their team is really coming out to play this season? After a dismal showing in 2008 (they went 3-9)  you would think practicing would be welcomed. Their schedule is looking to be tough – with visits to Notre Dame, Penn State, and Ohio State – but that just means the drama will, no doubt, continue.

– Charlie Weiss is coaching for his job in South Bend after his early success has given way to a poor showing. Although the Irish finished above 080905_JimmyClausen_h.h2.500 last year, they never got into a rythym behind quarterback Jimmy Clausen. This year has high expectations attached, and their easy schedule should allow them to reach those. Clausen has taken the time to study his game and gel with his offense, a move that will pay off in the long run. It will also be interesting to see how they perform out of the national limelight. The true test for Notre Dame will come in mid-October, when they face perennial foe USC.

FedEx+BCS+National+Championship+Game+1s4vD_fGARel– Sam Bradford won the Heisman last yea, but his job is about to get a lot harder. Oklahoma has lost four of their starting offensive linemen from last year, which means Bradford won’e have as much time in the pocket. If he can put up the same numbers with the added pressure, he will live up to the hype. This will be a make or break year or Bradford (especially when it comes to his draft status), but can he rise to the occasion?

– While Bradford has pressure and Tim Tebow has all of the media attention, Colt McCoy is coltout for blood. He remains the only one of the three quarterbacks to not earn his Heisman, but this season he will be gunning for it directly. Don’t let his hokey accent and porn-star mustache fool you, he wants you to think he isn’t a threat. Every game, every drive, and every single pass will be his own personal audition tape.
